Solid wood and pressed veneer chair with a design which focuses on the interplay of positive and negative spaces.
Designed by Sami Kallio its back and side panels form solid shape and support, but visual forms are also created by the gaps in-between creating an interesting appearance.
Kallio's traditional woodworking craftsmanship and expertise is evident in this chair which is produced using two classical techniques, compression moulding (making it light and thin, yet strong) and wood turning (a technique that uses lathe to achieve greater detail). The materials are ash and oak, both of which respond well to the techniques used. The production of the In between chair involves modern industrial manufacturing processes and intervention by human hand to create a harmony of innovation and tradtion.
This chair also echoes the style of Hans Wegner (1914-2007) a Danish designer whose work Kallio cites as an inspiration. In between gives a respectful nod to the past, but ultimately looks forward.
Available in 4 stylish colour finishes.
