Timorous Beasties Decouper 2 Hand-Print Wallpaper
Product Code: TB1551

The Timorous Beasties Decouper hand-print 2 wallpaper is a contemporary take on 18th Century decorative chinioserie and toiles de jouey patterns. The literal meaning of Decouper in French is to “cut out” and is also the source of the term “découpage”. The Découpage style of decoration became popular in 18th Century Britain with the upper and burgeoning middle classes. Images were cut from valuable prints and lacquered onto hatboxes, gift boxes and even walls. Unlike the sentimental patterns from that era Timorous Beasties have used modern contemporary urban life depictions of young and old men, workers, shoppers, pregnant mothers, cyclists and tramps which are beautifully silhouetted against a decorative backdrop of traditional pattern. This Decouper wallpaper collection challenges the ideas of class, wealth and taste of both old and new ages.
Pattern repeat: 69.6cm (style straight over) Please note price is per 10m roll.
