Rotterdam designer Bertjan Pot graduated from Design Academy Eindhoven in 1998. Designer of Moooi’s iconic Random Light and Carbon Chair, Bertjan Pot uses a blend of computer aesthetics and industrial techniques to initiate his design process. His experimental approach to material exploration has made Bertjan a prominent figure in the international design area. Developing unique methods of making to realise his ethereal designs, Random Light for is created by freezing epoxy coated yarns around a cluster of balloons to create a skin-like structure of resin drained textile which achieves a dynamic interplay of shadows and light once illuminated.
Rotterdam based designer furniture and lighting designer Bertjan Pot is best known for his Random Light (1999) developed for iconic Dutch design label, Moooi. With a fascination for techniques, structures, patterns and colours, Bertjan Pot is one of the most experimental product designers of our time. His multi-award-winning works are coveted by art collectors the world over and he is exhibited internationally in some of the world’s most influential galleries including V&A London, MoMa New York and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
