I love this time of year because… it’s wonderfully autumnal and even busier than usual! There’s never a dull moment in the Houseology studio but this week we’re in the midst of a photo shoot meaning there’s lots more going on. Festive spirit is already infiltrating our team of Houseologists as all our samples from the Christmas collections are arriving and the team are flat-out finalising the launch of our new Christmas Lookbook. From stunning Christmas trees to exclusive decorations and essential glassware from some of our favourite brands such as Chef & Sommelier and LSA, we’ve got more than ever going on in the Houseology Christmas Shop.
This week what I love most about my job is… getting back to basics and being creative. Running a business is one thing, but photo shoots are always exciting to be a part of – if not slightly exhausting! I love being on set with the team, putting together shots that really reflect the seasonal ideas and styles we’ve developed from all our buying activity in the earlier part of the year.
My new love this week is… the current collection from one of my favourite Danish design houses, Lene Bjerre. This season, the Lene Bjerre range has taken on a moodier ambience with sophisticated coloured glass lighting, the most beautiful fabrics and an understated palette that combines soft neutrals with pops of teal and plum – all perfect for AW15.
At the weekend I love to…cook for friends and family. Working mad hours at Houseology can be all-consuming, however one of my favourite pastimes in the early evenings of the weekend, is to pour a glass of wine – in my favourite Chef & Sommelier wine glass of course - and spend time in the kitchen testing out new recipes and flavours on my unsuspecting family.
My faithful Le Creuset casserole pot is always on the hob, ready to start cooking up a delicious soup or a warming, hearty supper. I am such a fan of the Le Creuset range – who doesn’t love their timeless cast iron collection? Have you tried their stainless steel pots and pans and their non-stick bakeware? I’ve bought lots of cookware in my time, however this collection is simply amazing and so easy to clean. I challenge anyone to prove me wrong!
This weekend will also be wrap day on our photo shoot which is always cause for celebration. Once the final pieces have been all packed away and driven back to the warehouse, a couple of glasses of bubbly and some nibbles will definitely be called for. We recently treated ourselves to the new Just Slate Company Sheesham Wood Serving Paddle and Board Sets in the studio and not only are they gorgeous, they display nibbles and crudities beautifully – stylish and practical too – something we Houseologists just adore!
